We hope this bulletin finds you well and you are finding interesting ways to manage and overcome these weird times that we all find ourselves in.

Life here continues to unfold in unexpected ways as we adapt to the ever changing situation and find new ways to communicate and work with our loyal customers and friends.

We have surprisingly had a productive month working with customers on commissions for birthdays, engagements and special events and have refined the process to design and create beautiful pieces of jewellery remotely – perfect socially distanced commissioning!

I am relieved to say that we had a good response to our April offers both for restringing, but more importantly a few of our customers realised money for old scrap from family jewellery which they used against new commissions. Many sent us photos of jewellery before they sent it in so that we could advise what could be dismantled, and which stones could be used again in a new piece.

As we mentioned before, the current gold value is higher than it has been in over 10 years, so there is still time to go through your old jewellery and send it to us so that we can sell it for scrap for you and turn it into something wonderful and new.

(We will give you 100% value of the scrap gold which is unique amongst jewellers as most take a fee or commission for this service).

A wonderful way to honour a loved one and cheer yourself up.

A commission story…

One of our customers kindly offered to share some of her dialogue with us and has given permissions for us to share images.

This process started with an email about how it might be possible to commission pendants for her daughters who’s birthdays are both in May. It started with an idea of budget and proceeded with conversation about each girl’s nature and interests – one being very creative, the other training as a vet – and the colours and personal stylings that they both have.

It unfolded from there with sketches, photographs of gemstones and then ideas began to form such as a way to incorporate a flower, as that had been there in a gift from her mother to her.

Here’s what our customer thought on receiving the first pendant:

‘The parcel just arrived and I must say I am so thrilled with the pendant you made for Amelie! It’s truly unique and beautiful. I am sure she will treasure it forever. Thank you so much for your effort in this difficult time’.

‘Amelie absolutely loves her necklace, she hasn’t taken it off, although I have urged her to do so at bedtime. The pendant sits so lovely on her décolletage, I tried it myself, it feels like it’s moulded against the skin! I can’t wait to see the amethyst pendant!’

And after the second birthday pendant arrived:

‘Maddie’s pendant arrived today – it is absolutely stunning! LOVE IT! Thank you so much!’

Cornish Bright

As some of you who have visited us at shows will remember, Tom (who works for us) and Sandra set up a company called Cornish Bright which showcased hand crafted work from Cornwall, and used Tom and Peter’s artwork.

We have made a new website and the link is here – https://www.cornishbright.co.uk

If you are looking for gifts please do have a browse. We do have quite a fair amount of items in stock in our onsite studio gallery and although the glass blowers aren’t currently blowing, if you look at the item it will show if we currently have it.

Of course, you can talk to us about jewellery for gifts as well!

The farm

The best vegetable garden we have ever had!

It has been a real bonus to be at home and able to grow all our own food and it is one of our passions. We do everything fully organically and do a four year rotation system in raised beds. Feel free to ask a question if you are stuck with something and want a recommendation – we may be able to help.

Joy & Ollie

We thought you might like an update on our two little kids. Both are thriving and full of the joys of spring!
Golden Guernseys are a rare breed and we have a very rare ‘bloodline’ within that.

This little chap is one of only five entire males and with his bloodline is going to Norfolk to his new home as a stud male! Tough life! For now, he is living his life with us and the herd.
